Colonial Bohea Black tea


Of Boston Tea party fame. Bohea tea (pronounced “Boo-Hee”)was by far the largest tea import in colonial America- this blend originate in China with trade to the British and Dutch East India companies. It was so popular, the word bohea became the slang term for tea.
More Bohea tea was destroyed in the Boston Tea Party than any other tea. (242 chests with an average weight of a chest being 270 pounds!)
Bohea is a smoky winey blend of Wuyi Mountain black and Lapsan Souchong teas.
